Chennai: Drought-hit delta farmers have got from Mother Nature what the Supreme Court and Karnataka government could not deliver.

Heavy downpour in the catchments flowing into the rivers, particularly the Cauvery, has almost filled up most reservoirs in western Tamil Nadu.

The Mettur Stanley Reservoir that feeds over a million acres of fertile paddy fields in the delta districts is the biggest beneficiary. For the first time in eight years, the dam received over 1 lakh cusecs.
