Hearing on Wikileaks founder Julian Assange's appeal against his extradition to Sweden has begun in the British Supreme Court. Yesterday Assange's lawyers told the judges the Swedish prosecutor who issued his European Arrest Warrant did not have the authority to do. They maintained that the Swedish prosecutor was a party in the case and hence cannot be taken as impartial and independent. Hence the Swedish arrest warrant is invalid and unenforceable. Assange is wanted by the Swedish authorities for questioning over alleged sex offenses, which he denies. The hearing will continue today as well.
