India News : Vegetable prices in north India are rising steeply due to heavy rains, which have damaged crops and have caused a supply shortage, according to reports.
The traders in Azadpur Mandi said that so far India has received about 54 per cent more rainfall than usual, which runs from June to September. However, due to heavy downpour, the vegetable crops have been damaged in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana. The monsoon rains have been unusually early. The rains usually cover northern India by mid-July.
