Latest News: Government offers financial aid to Uttarakhand

India News: The state government Wednesday announced Rs 2-crore aid for flood-hit Uttarakhand. The government will soon start a relief camp at Haridwar for stranded Gujarati tourists.
"Chief Minister Narendra Modi spoke to his Uttarakhand counterpart Vijay Bahuguna Wednesday and expressed support. The government also provided Rs 2-crore aid to the state," said state Finance Minister Nitin Patel after a Cabinet meeting here.
Very soon, the state government would set up a relief camp for the victims there and three senior level IAS officials were scheduled to leave for Uttarakhand Wednesday night, he added. The government took help of travel agents to locate the stranded tourists. It also started a special helpline number — 07923251092 — for coordination.
