Doctor's death: Murder case filed on family's plea

Lucknow, June 26 Four days after Uttar Pradesh deputy chief medical officer Y.S. Sachan was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a jail, police Sunday registered a murder case against 'unidentified persons' on his family's complaint.
The first information report (FIR) was registered at Gosainganj police station here.
'Taking cognisance of the complaint made by doctor Sachan's wife Malti Sachan to Lucknow DIG (deputy inspector general) of police, we have got an FIR registered at Gosainganj police station against unidentified persons,' said an official spokesman.
The slain doctor's son Sankalp Sachan was not impressed with the government's belated decision to register a 'murder' case.
Reiterating the family's demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the incident, Sankalp told reporters: 'I fail to understand why the state government is so reluctant to order a CBI probe even after two chief medical officers and a deputy chief medical officer have been murdered -- I have reason to believe that top people including the chief minister are behind it.'
Earlier, he had pointed the finger of suspicion at the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Dhananjay Singh.
'My father was killed simply because the higher-ups knew that he was all set to expose everyone once he was presented in court and they found it convenient to twist it (his death) as a case of suicide,' he alleged.
Sachan, the prime accused in chief medical officer (CMO) family welfare B.P. Singh's murder, was found dead inside a Lucknow district jail toilet Wednesday evening. Police claimed he committed suicide.
