The Dark and Stormy is a Great Drink with a Weird Legal History

A Dark and Stormy is made from just three ingredients: Rum, Ginger Beer, and Lime. Hailing from Caribbean waters, where rum is plentiful and so are sailors, the drink was spit out by the sea, more or less. And it’s got a really cool name. But despite its simplicity as a cocktail, the drink actually has a pretty interesting history with intellectual property lawsuits.
