Ying Liang’s semi-autobiographical film tells the story of Yang Shu, a Chinese filmmaker who is forced to live in exile in Hong Kong after making a film that offended the Chinese government. When her mother, who had previously been ill, suffers a relapse, Yang Shu uses the opportunity of a film festival in Taiwan to reunite her family, who visit from mainland China, while keeping to the strictly regulated schedule of a Chinese tour company.
