South Korea's finance minister says the 5G wireless network, which will be launched in Korea next month, will help improve people's quality of life.
At an innovative growth strategy meeting on Wednesday, Minister Hong said the government's tax incentives and R&D investment in the 5G wireless network have led to fruitful results and that the country's top three mobile carriers will invest more than 2-point-six billion U.S. dollars in 5G this year.
He added that the government has chosen the first two locations for the establishment of smart industrial zones: Changwon in Gyeongsangnam-do province, and Banwol Sihwa in Gyeonggi-do province.
The government's plan is to create 10 smart industrial complexes by 2022 as part of efforts to boost manufacturing competitiveness.
