7 seats in the Lok Sabha and 24 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly lie vacant, additionally, there are 2 empty seats in the j & k assembly reserved for women which are at the governor's discretion. Putting this information in context. There are 36,000 PoK refugee families in India and 6,000 Kashmiri Pandit refugees who were driven away from their homes. There are more than 4 million Kashmiris in PoK who currently live under the atrocities and brutalities of Pakistan and its forces. Moreover, there are thousands others, staying in exile around the world. The question now remains, shouldn't these seats, which are already constitutionally available be filled? We are asking the question if Kashmiri pandits and members from the PoK refugee families should be nominated or elected to these seats which currently lie vacant.
