U.S. needs to maintain American troops in S. Korea for its Indo-Pacific strategy: Gardner

U.S. Senator Cory Gardner has expressed hope the United States will maintain its armed forces in South Korea,... even if Pyeongyang and Washington agree on an "impeccable denuclearization deal."
Gardner, who also serves as Chair of the Senate's Subcommittee on East Asia, The Pacific and International Cybersecurity Policy,... said a continued U.S. engagement and presence on the Korean peninsula is significant for the security of South Korea as well as other partner countries.
He added that it would be a grave mistake for American troops to leave the peninsula as Washington's Indo-Pacific strategy is dependent on its sustainable security capability on the Korean Peninsula.
