Bajirao Descendant Lashes Out On Bhansali For The Song 'Pinga'

While many have appreciated Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone's dance off in their film Bajirao Mastani's song 'Pinga', there are some people who are not very happy with how the song portrays that era. PeeCee plays the role of Bajirao's first wife Kashibai and Dippy's part is that of Mastani who was his lover. Mohini Karkarey, a descendant from the real Peshwa Bajirao's family line, penned an open letter to the director of the film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, blasting him for stating unauthenticated things in the movie that is based on the real story of these historic people. She said that Bhansali has not researched the subject and doesn't have any understanding the life and times of people in th 1700s. She revealed that in reality, Kashibai could not have danced like this as she was suffering from arthritis and tuberculosis along with the fact that it wasn't permitted to dance like this at that time. It was also said that the costumes worn by the two heroines in the film are completely wrong as women back then wore sarees in the way that it didn't show an ounce of skin. And the big revealtion was the fact that Kashibai and Mastani only met once in their lives in a formal meeting. Giving out many other truths about that era, the descendant lashed out on the director for insulting the Maharashtrian families and their culture. Looks like SLB took his artistic freedom a little too far this time, landing him straight in this cultural controversy.
