In Conversation: Punjabi Munda Jimmy Shergill

Jimmy Shergill or Jasjit Singh Gill was born on December 3, 1970 in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Coming from a Sikh jatt family, Jimmy has grown up mostly in Punjab and studied in Patiala before moving to Mumbai for making his career in film industry.

Jimmy's stint in Bollywood began quite well with Gulzar's 'Maachis' which focused on the Punjab Terrorism during the early 1980s. Following this, he was seen next in Yash Raj Film's Mohabbatein with veteran and renowned actors of Bollywood like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The film was a commercial hit.

Further, he went on to work in noticeable and important roles in films like 'Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai', 'Haasil', 'Munnabhai MBBS', 'Yahaan', 'Lage Raho Munnabhai', 'My Name is Khan', 'Tanu weds Manu', 'Saheb', Biwi aur Gangster', 'Special 26', 'Bullet Raja' and some recent ventures like 'Fugly', 'Bang Bang', also shooting for a sequeal of 'Tanu weds Manu'

Critics have always appreciated his work. He has a great sense of honesty in his acting which transforms well on screen.The actor's 2007 movie 'Eklavya: The Royal Guard', aws been nominated for the Oscars.

Jimmy has worked in many Punjabi films as well and is one of the top actors in Punjabi Film Industry garnering many commercial hits.
