1 Vasudev is the name of a nomadic tribal clan that wander from temple to temple enacting the religious stories of Vitthal-Rakhumai or Krishna.
2 They are adherent male devotees of Lord Krishna who perform enactments and are mostly noticed on festive mornings, precisely during Diwali.
3 The ancient cult of Krishna Vasudev has existed in India for centuries and is still prevalent in Maharashtra.
4 Every single member of this clan is also referred to as Vasudev, who sings devotional songs on the tunes of the musical instrument called Chiplya or Kartals (hand cymbals).
5 This cultural custom is followed by young descendants of the clan in rural regions. They traditionally roam around the towns in groups or as a single Vasudev.
6 The songs of Vasudev draw special attention as they either highlight the societal issues or have a message for the welfare.
7 He performs in a peculiar style where he recites his songs along with delicate dance steps
8 His appearance is as attractive as his performance. He wears a distinctive white-orange outfit of traditional dhotis and often applies a pink colored Tilak on his forehead.
9 He also wears the necklace made of beads and shells and Rudraksha Malas. He also wears conical headgear that has peacock feathers tucked in it.
