1 Sometimes called as Ram Dhun, this is a popular Hindu devotional song that glorifies Lord Rama in every temple.

2 It was written by Lakshmanacharya in Shri Nama Ramayanam and was sung first time by Pt. Vishnu Digambar Paluskar.

3 This Bhajan later got more popularized as it was a favorite of Mahatma Gandhi, who changed the words of a song and made it a patriotic song.

4 The original wordings of the Ram Dhun is ;

|| Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram Patit Pavan Sita-Ram
Sundara Vigraha Megha-Shyam Ganga Tulasi Shalagram
Bhadra Girishwara Sita-Ram Bhagat Janapriya Sita-Ram
Janaki Ramana Sita-Ram Jaya Jaya Raghava Sita-Ram ||
5 The devotees continue chant to this Bhajan to get uplifted from sins if they are determined to follow Dharma (righteousness).

6 To reap the best benefits, the adherent followers visit the Lord Ram’s temple early in the morning and apply Gandha (sandalwood paste) on the deity.

7 After which they light a ghee Diya and offer flowers near the deity’s feet.
