Sweethearts Valentine's Candy Won't Be Available This Year Necco, the original
candy producer, went
out of business in 2018. Spangler Candy Company, the new
producer of the heart-shaped candy,
purchased the brand in September. Spangler announced that
they do not have enough time
to produce Sweethearts by Feb. 14. Kirk Vashaw, Spangler CEO, via statement Spangler plans to launch Sweethearts in time for Valentine’s Day 2020. Necco wafers, which was also
acquired by Spangler in September,
