This was the history of Pakistan's 1st coup as written by the dawn newspaper. On October 7, 1958, a lavish reception at the president’s house was arranged. While all guests were enjoying their drinks, Iskander Mirza, the president, seemed impatient. At eight o’clock he went inside. The army units awaiting orders outside Karachi began moving. They captured all sensitive points and buildings including radio pakistan, telephone and telegraph building, Karachi port, airport, etc., and also blocked important thoroughfares. The guests at the reception knew nothing about what was happening outside. By morning, the Pakistani public would wake up to that headline. Iskandar Mirza and Ayub Khan had completed the first coup of Pakistan. All political parties were abolished, the constitution abrogated. The president himself would be forced out by Ayub a few weeks later and Pakistan would be under totally military control, where it has remained to this day. With this history, it's the height of self serving delusions when Pakistani’s comment about politics in India. That's what their information minister has now done, pointing out to political turmoil in India. Yes, we have a loud, argumentative democracy, that's what makes us India and not Pakistan. Team Imran is of course looking to prod and poke Indians and misuse our political divides as a pr opportunity to present us as torn and broken to his home audience. What Pakistan needs to be actually doing is looking at it's own bankruptcy and terror and military fists. What should indian politicians do to ensure that despite our political disagreements, a united voice is presented to the enemy, whose sole cause of existence is to bait India and Indians. Let's expose them, corner them and present a united voice.
