Amid the stalled defense cost sharing talks between Seoul and Washington,... South Korea has reportedly sought help from American officials NOT involved in the direct negotiations,... including U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
This according to Bloomberg,... citing an anonymous source familiar with the ongoing talks between the allies.
Despite a series of meetings throughout last year, Seoul and Washington have been unable to narrow their differences on sharing the cost of American troops stationed in Korea.
The report also says,.... South Korea and the U.S. are unlikely to reach a deal before the April 15th deadline when Seoul is due to start paying civilian personnel at U.S. bases in Korea.
