The CW left no mystery as to Riverdale's status for the 2018/2019 season. Archie and his pals will be back as Riverdale Season 3 has been officially confirmed by the network.
The network made a rare move in announcing that 10 of its original shows had all been picked up for new seasons. The network is also expanding its programming lineup to a sixth day of originals with the intention of launching a primetime block on Sundays.
Riverdale has become one of the network’s flagship programs. The show is a ratings hit with the younger demo and saw huge ratings increases from season 1 to season 2, in large part due to the show being available on streaming services like Netflix. The series debuted as a midseason show in 2017 and quickly earned a renewal for the fall.
