Supreme Court reinstated CBI director Alok Verma. Apex court cancelled the govt's order to divest him as the chief of the probe agency. However, Verma can't take major policy decisions till cleared by a high level committee. The selection committee headed by PM Modi will reviews the probe report against Verma. Verma was asked to go on leave in an order issued on 23 October 2018. The centre intervened because of the rift between Verma and his number two, Rakesh Asthana. Both Verma and Asthana have accused each other of corruption.
