Golden Mermaid Statue Hit By Storm Pabuk Waves

A famous Golden Mermaid beach statue was seen being hit with waves caused by tropical storm Pabuk in southern Thailand this morning. The bronze sculpture is one of the main attractions in Songkhla province, which is on Thailand's south coast bearing the brunt of heavy rain and strong winds. Tourists were seen venturing onto the sand this morning at 10am local time to take pictures of the statue, as strong waves hit the shore and an oil tanker rocked in the distance. Storm Pabuk has brought devastation to the area with tens of thousands of tourists evacuated from popular holiday islands including Koh Samui and Koh Tao.
