Seoul expressed deep regrets over how Tokyo continues to make inappropriate comments on the nation's Supreme Court's ruling that Japanese firms must compensate South Koreans for forced labor during World War Two.
A senior official at Seoul's foreign ministry told reporters Thursday that while Japan's criticism is very "undiplomatic", Seoul still seeks to move forward with Japan in the New Year and heal the wounds of the victims.
This comes as Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on January 1st, criticized the court's ruling while speaking to reporters.
Meanwhile, a number of plaintiffs on Wednesday applied for a seizure of the Japanese firms' shares within the country.
To this, the South Korean official said the government will come up with an overall response after an in-depth discussion with the relevant ministries and experts.
