Business Insider reports one stay-at-home mother of two complained of not knowing when her husband's next check would come, as the mortgage was due and Christmas was two days away. Federal workers and their family members, as well as other individuals, used the hashtag #shutdownstories on social media. One user wrote, "Last summer, our city was ravaged by the Carr Fire.
