The drawing is of martyr Lena Nabulsi killed by Israeli soldiers at the age of 15 for the Palestinian artiest Sliman Mansour.
Leina Nabulsi was shot dead from close range by Israeli soldiers at the age of 15 while walking home from school in 1976, many others were killed in that same year in which Palestinians in the occupied territories and Palestinians living under “Israel” took to the streets to protest land confiscations in the Galilee (Palestinians to this day commemorate Yom al Ard/Land Day on 30 of march every year) lena became an symbol to the Palestinian struggle especially in the first Intifada, at home my dad had this drawing on living room (he was still a student in 1976).
Ahmed Kabour’s most famous song “fe al dafa” (written by hasan daher) talks about the same lena, but very few people know that, the song goes:
Lena was a child making her future. She was shot, Lena fell, but her blood was still singing,. for Jerusalem, for Nablus.. Palestinians on the West Bank make your bodies a bridge for return “for the refugees
