NICO ROYALE, Il cantante dell'Appennino, è un artista reggae italiano.
Con il suo stile melodico ma allo stesso tempo esplosivo si esprime su ogni tipo di sonorità dal roots al dub, dalla dancehall all'hip hop.
Dopo i primi anni come batterista nel gruppo punk Twine Baskets si innamora del reggae ed inizia la sua carriera come mc nel sound system Casalypso, fondato nei primi anni 2000.
Nello stesso periodo registra i primi singoli assieme a Mickey Tuff di Forward the Bass Hi-Fi e il nome Nico Royale, mentre è chitarrista e voce della band Baba Sound.
Nel 2003 partecipa come attore a «Quanti siamo Quelli che siamo», film di Enza Negroni sugli ultrà bolognesi.
Nel 2005 si trasferisce e vive per un anno a Città del Messico dove entra in contatto con la scena locale esibendosi esibendosi in Messico, Panama e Cuba e registrando molte tracce fra cui alcune collaborazioni con artisti sudamericani.
Di ritorno a casa incide prima un demo nel 2006 e poi, nel 2009, il primo cd ufficiale dal titolo "Singa" prodotto dall' etichetta ed associazione culturale "Montagna di Suono" con il supporto del progetto B-Dub.
Negli anni successivi gira in lungo e largo la penisola assieme a uno dei veterani del reggae italiano, Markone, del gruppo Bombabomba membro di B-dub e con il quale, da quel momento in avanti condividerà molti concerti ed esperienze.
L'incessante attività live trova riscontro ovunque, anche oltre confine (Spagna, Repubblica Ceca, Francia, Portogallo, Inghilterra) tanto che nel 2010 ritorna in Messico per un tour di 10 date sold out assieme al collettivo Bungalo Dub.
Sempre nel 2010 inizia ad esibirsi con la Dangerous band, formata da alcuni dei migliori musicisti reggae italiani.
NICO ROYALE, the Apennine singer, is an Italian reggae artist.
With his melodic style but at the same time explosive he expresses himself on every type of sonority from roots to dub, from dancehall to hip hop.
After the first years as a drummer in the punk band Twine Baskets falls in love with reggae and begins his career as a mc in the sound system Casalypso, founded in the early 2000s.
In the same period he recorded the first singles together with Mickey Tuff of Forward the Bass Hi-Fi and the name Nico Royale, while he was the guitarist and voice of the band Baba Sound.
In 2003 he participated as an actor in "How many we are Who we are", a film by Enza Negroni on the Bolognese ultrà.
In 2005 he moved and lived for a year in Mexico City where he came into contact with the local scene performing in Mexico, Panama and Cuba and recording many tracks including some collaborations with South American artists.
Back home he recorded a demo first in 2006 and then, in 2009, the first official cd entitled "Singa" produced by the label and cultural association "Montagna di Suono" with the support of the B-Dub project.
In the following years he toured the peninsula along with one of the veterans of the Italian reggae, Markone, of the Bombabomba group member of B-dub and with whom, from that moment on, he will share many concerts and experiences.
The incessant live activity is reflected everywhere, even across the border (Spain, Czech Republic, France, Portugal, England) so that in 2010 returns to Mexico for a tour of 10 dates sold out together with the collective Bungalo Dub.
Also in 2010 he began to perform with the Dangerous band, formed by some of the best Italian reggae musicians.
