SCOTUS Declines
Planned Parenthood Case The case concerned whether
patients could use Medicaid
for pregnancy-related
Planned Parenthood services. Planned Parenthood provides
such services to low-income women. The Supreme Court declining the case
means that most states will be unable
to block patients from doing so. Leana Wen, president of Planned Parenthood, via NPR Anti-abortion groups
decried the Supreme Court's decision. Statement, Students for Life of America,
via NPR The Supreme Court's ruling
applies only to pregnancy
services and not abortions. Such services include
screenings, ultrasounds
and counseling. Federal Law prohibits
the use of Medicaid
