South Korean figure skater Cha Jun-hwan ... won a bronze medal at the International Skating Union Grand Prix Final,... becoming the first male skater from the country to step up to the podium at the distinguished event.
He scored 263-point-4-9 points... to finish behind Nathan Chen of the U.S. and Shoma Uno of Japan in Vancouver on Friday.
Cha said he was pleased with the way he was able to stay focused,... overcoming a mishap when he failed to execute a quadruple toe loop... at the start of his free skate program.
Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan, the two-time reigning Olympic champion,... pulled out of the event with an ankle injury.
