You should have an LED flashlight, extra batteries, fire extinguisher, and a first aid kit. Keep heavy pliers in case you need to turn off gas and water. For added protection, add dust masks, gloves, and several gallons of drinking water for each person at home. If you have a landline phone, keep a handset you can plug right into the phone jack just in case you can’t use your cell phone.
