U.S. Appeals Court Says New Jersey Can Enforce Gun Ammunition Limit

New Jersey may enforce a new law that lowers the number of bullets that guns can hold.
The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia on Wednesday upheld a lower court’s refusal to temporarily enjoin the law.
The law, passed in June, reduced maximum magazine capacity to 10 rounds.
It was previously a 15-round limit, according to a law adopted in 1990.
The court said the law did not violate gun owners’ Second Amendment rights.
“New Jersey’s law reasonably fits the state’s interest in public safety and does not unconstitutionally burden the Second Amendment’s right to self-defense in the home." Circuit Judge Patty Shwartz wrote for the majority.
Nine states and Washington, D.C. have banned large capacity magazines, and federal appeals courts have upheld their bans.
