Rite-Of-Passage Procedure May Be Leading Teens Into Opioid Addiction

A common teenage rite of passage is having your wisdom teeth pulled.
But according to Gizmodo, that same procedure may be raising the risk of teens getting hooked on opioids.
Children prescribed dental opioids are more likely to abuse them within a year’s time than those who don’t.
Only a small percentage of people who are prescribed opioids develop a harmful addiction.
However, the risk of addiction does tend to increase with greater exposure to opioids.
