Panthers Hiring In-House Mental Health Clinician is a 'Game Changer' The Carolina Panthers have hired Tish Guerin, who is currently believed to be the only active in-house psychological clinician in the NFL. Nyaka NiiLampti, the director of wellness for the NFLPA, said Carolina's hiring of Guerin is a "game-changer." Former Carolina Panthers WR Steve Smith spoke out after the suicides of celebrities Anthony Bourdain and Kate Spade. Smith said he had feelings of being "routinely trapped, inferior and alone." Guerin, who was hired in September, has an office at the Panthers' Bank of American Stadium in Charlotte. "It's something that hasn't been taken seriously long enough. We have to lower our guard and know saying something's wrong isn't a bad thing." Eric Reid, Panthers safety, via ESPN "Making sure our warriors we see on Sunday have access to be able to get things off their chest and relieve that stress in a positive way, that's imperative," Tish Guerin, Panthers' director of player wellness, via ESPN "This is something I would hope to see for all teams."
