Since Indo-Pak Partition the Balochistan has waged an armed struggle against the state of Pakistan for what it claims as equal rights and self-determination for the Baloch people in Pakistan, who it claims have been subjected to repression for decades.पाकिस्तान का मानता है कि वो बलूचिस्तान में अलगावादियों के ख़िलाफ़ लड़ाई जीत रहा है जबकि बलोच कार्यकर्ताओं का मानना है कि पाकिस्तानी सेना वहां अपहरण, उत्पीड़न और हत्याएं कर रही है जिसके कारण वहां पाकिस्तान के ख़िलाफ़ भावनाएं भड़क रही हैं.
