An international group of young surfers in Spain come into procession of an ancient artifact -- Mamba -- an old board game made from the skin and bones of a witch executed during the Spanish Inquisition. At a drunken party one night, they casually decide to play. It's all fun and games until they find out that curses last forever -- and death is the ultimate undertow.

Young American expatriate, Jason (Mike Vogel), spends his carefree days surfing the beaches of northwestern Spain. The surf community there is international and beautiful, especially the mysterious Erica (Eliza Dushku) who Jason falls in love with. However all of that changes when Jason brings an ancient artifact into their midst -- Mamba - a mysterious and creepy old board game made from the desiccated flesh and bones of a witch skinned alive in 1489 during the Inquisition. Those who play the game and win are granted their heart's desire, a wish. Hapless losers, however, must face the twisted fates assigned to them by the game's quatrains -- enigmatic verses of unknown origin.

Unaware of Mamba's cursed history, Jason and his friends decide to play one night during a drunken party. From that moment forward, one by one, death begins to take them in the most gruesome ways. To add to their terror, the survivors soon become aware that a deadly shadow is pursuing them -- and there is seemingly nothing they can do to stop it... or is there? Jason and Erica must put themselves at ultimate risk to try to unwind the horrible chain of events they unwittingly set in motion.

Who would play such a game? The greedy. The desperate. The innocent. Like the dark side of Jumanji, Open Graves explores how wishes can be turned into nightmares and love can be turned into death. And only raw courage can save them.
