Alibaba's Singles Day Sale Hits $1 Billion in 85 Seconds The company's annual Global Shopping Festival broke last year's record. Alibaba sold $30.8 billion in good across 230 countries within just 24 hours. That's a 27% increase over the $25.3 billion raked in from 2017. The Japanese e-commerce giant topped $10 billion in sales in just one hour. Apple, Dyson, Gap and Nike are some of the biggest brands that profited from the event. Thats well beyond U.S. holiday sales, which generated $5 billion in online sales during Black Friday 2017.
