Organ donation tourism in Spain | DW English

In Spain, organ donation occurs on an opt-out basis, which means more organs get donated than elsewhere in the EU. While shorter waits for donor organs lure patients in need of organ transplants to Spain from across Europe, Spaniards in desperate need of transplants have to wait longer. Spanish authorities are considering a minimum residence requirement of two years to receive a donated organ.
