Risk of Death, Says Study The study conducted by
scientists in London was
published in the most
recent issue of Lancet. It linked extreme
body mass index (BMI) BMI is determined by dividing
a person's weight
in kilograms
by the square of their
height in meters. The authors of the study
recommend BMI within
the range of 21 to 25. Obesity — a BMI of 30 or higher —
was linked to heart disease and cancer. The condition was shown to
reduce life expectancy by
4.2 years in men and
3.5 years in women. Excessively low BMI was
linked to dementia, Alzheimer's,
