Stolen Credit Cards Block Drain

Street cleaners were stunned when they went to clean a blocked drain and discovered hundreds of stolen wallets and credit cards. Sanitation workers arrived at the drain in the Batangas City in Manila, Philippines after complaints from local residents about water over-flowing and a foul smell. They were expecting junk and detritus but when they removed the manhole cover noticed hundreds of ID cards, empty wallets and credit cards. Police who investigated the find on October 16 now suspect they had been stolen by pickpockets then dumped after they had removed the money. Investigating officer Mario David said: ''It is highly probable that these items were stolen. We will bring the items to the police station so we can contact the owners who are probably victims of pickpocketing.''
