John Kodera the President and Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment announced last week that open beta would begin for Fortnite that will allow for cross-platform gameplay, progression, and commerce across PlayStation 4, Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and Mac operating systems.
Sony was originally against the idea of allowing their players to play online with other console gamers. However, since the backlash from its own consumer base and other online gamers, it looks as if Sony has finally given in. The question is what is the future for crossplay now that all the companies are working together?
