Anantnag: Jawan dies in stone pelting violence

Army Jawan Rajendar Singh succumbed to his injuries after he was attacked with stones by some youth in J&K's Anantnag while on duty. Singh was part of a quick reaction team that was providing security to a border roads organisation convoy. Few youths hurled stones at the vehicle and one rock hit Singh directly on the head. He was rushed for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries. This incident comes after a 22 year old tourist from Tamil Nadu was killed in stone pelting violence in J&K in May. Meanwhile Home Minister Rajnath Singh, on his recent visit to the state said there was a major shift in the security situation in J&K, with even the number of stone pelting incidents decreasing significantly.
