Stephen King’s wife literally pulled his career from the garbage can when she rescued his “Carrie” manuscript, and it's not the only time the trash saved the King of Horror.
Stephen King is one of the masters of horror, next to the greats like Dario Argento. He had a rough start before gaining success with “Carrie” and “Pet Sematary,” and now younger audiences are getting their taste of his movies with “It” and “It: Chapter 2.” Pennywise the Dancing Clown, played by Bill Skarsgård, terrorizes a group of kids in Maine, and the main character is loosely based on King himself.
The “It: Chapter 2” trailer is sure to be scary enough to give us nightmares. But other classic scary movies and horror films over the past few decades came from Stephen King's incredible writing. Adaptations like the Jack Nicholson-led “The Shining” and “The Shawshank Redemption” are hailed as modern classics — both the movies and his literature.
Although “Carrie” was one of his first pieces of writing (and Stephen King adaptation to the big screen), it was the first of many successful works. “The Dark Tower,” “Pet Sematary,” “Doctor Sleep,” “Children of the Corn,” “The Green Mile,” “Gerald's Game,” “Cujo,” and “Salem's Lot” are just some of King’s many books and movies that helped redefine horror movies.
“It” and its popularity proved that King isn’t going anywhere and we can't wait to see where the Maine master of horror goes next.
