Third phase of Panchayat Polls in J&K is underway; voter turnout very low

The third phase of Panchayat Polls in J&K is underway. The voter turnout during the civic body polls in the valley has been very low. Till now, only 1.2 percent voter turned out in Srinagar during the first three hours. Anantnag recorded only 2.5% voters. However, Baramulla recorded 72.69% voters. The valley has been boycotting the civic body polls, with lesser number of voters turning out today. While 50 wards have uncontested winners, 39 wards are expected to face the ballot leaving 62 wards vacant as no nominations were filed.
