Traffic Fatalities In The U.S. Fall After Two Years Of Rising Death Toll

According to a report by Automotive News, the number of US traffic fatalities fell by nearly 2 percent last year, following two years of increases that had raised concerns from regulators and safety advocates. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that last year, 37,133 people died in traffic crashes, down 1.8 percent from 2016. The rate of overall fatalities also dropped to 1.16 deaths per 100 million vehicle miles traveled, despite Americans reportedly driving more.
