Live in South Delhi? Watch man brazenly shot dead; India's capital is now this? | The X Factor

The last 72 hours in the national capital have witnessed a spate of violent crimes. From the north of the city to the south from the east to even the outskirts, at least 5 separate cases of murders have been reported. Many of them carried out audaciously during broad daylight and caught on CCTV camera. One man lost his life as he tried to thwart a robbery. Another man brutally killed after he allegedly objected to the illegal sale of drugs in his area. The family alleges the police are in cahoots with the drug peddlers who have a free run in the neighbourhood. In a third case, a young man was murdered allegedly because he was in a relationship with a girl from another community. This avalanche of crimes in Delhi come at a time when neighbouring Uttar Pradesh too has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons. A 38 year old techie was shot dead by a police constable in Lucknow over the weekend for allegedly refusing to stop his car for police checking. Last week, a video went viral showing some UP cops assaulting and abusing a young woman inside a police vehicle in Meerut for allegedly dating a Muslim man. The cops could also be heard making communally bigoted remarks. The incident sparked outrage across the country. The question we’re asking on the show tonight is just what’s happening in our cities? Why such lawlessness? Why is there no fear of the law? Why do criminals have so much confidence that they can commit a heinous crime like murder, perhaps in the presence of a CCTV camera in broad daylight and still get away even in this age of social media when videos go viral in minutes? Why has policing in our cities deteriorated so much? And why is there simply no accountability whether at the level of the law enforcers the men in khaki or their political masters the govt? And if the situation can be so abysmal in the national capital, the seat of power and supposedly a VIP zone, what can we expect in the rest of the country?
