According to Comicbook.com, "'The Walking Dead' executive producer David Alpert revealed one of the series’ biggest deaths — that of longtime survivor Carl Grimes — underwent several changes before the moment played out in the Season Eight mid-season premiere." Alpert told the press, “Oh, it’s a constant push-pull up until the day, especially character deaths... We take character deaths incredibly seriously because ... obviously we’re not killing the actor.
