Shocking videos captured across three cities - Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Zhuhai - on Sunday (September 17), shows trees being upturned, passersby being blown over, a crane falling down and a roof being ripped off in the powerful winds.
In the video, a huge tree in Shenzhen is seen being uprooted. In the same city, a crane is seen collapsing.
A crowd of people seeking refuge from the typhoon in Dapeng Culture and Sports Centre Stadium run away as the winds whip in through the damaged roof.
A restaurant is also seen submerged by flash floods.
According to reports, more than 9.5 million people were evacuated to safe areas.
Four people in Guangdong have died as a result of the typhoon, local media said.
