David Wright to Play One More Game for the Mets Mets infielder and captain David Wright is returning to the majors for the team's final homestand of 2018. He will start at third base on September 29 against the
Miami Marlins. Wright expects to retire after the season ends, saying he doesn't believe his body will allow him
to play again. The 35-year-old has had
multiple surgeries on his shoulder,
back and neck in recent years. David Wright, via statement Wright has spent his entire 13-year career with
the Mets. The seven-time All-Star has racked up a career .296 average with 242 homers, 390 doubles and 970 RBI.
