Review of Reviews: Is Laila Majnu worth a watch?

There are two all-time-classic romances that the world simply can’t get enough of... One is Romeo and Juliet and other is Laila Majnu... And this week, the famous Imtiaz Ali and his brother Sajid Ali have served up exactly that for Bollywood buffs... Yes, the tale of Laila Majnu.

The film stars relative newcomers Tripti Dimri as Laila and Avinash Tiwary as her Majnu. The Ali brothers have adapted the centuries old Persian love story into a modern tale set it in the beautiful Kashmir Valley.

Laila is the town beauty and Kais is a notorious playboy. But, against all the warnings and against the disapproval of their warring families, they fall in love. Of course, the Laila and the Majnu are soon separated and Kais becomes the lovelorn lover, roaming the hills... calling Laila’s name in vain.
