Give me more lens cases in the comments and I’ll add them to the description to help others!

In a previous video, we learned how to make a really simple and inexpensive action camera out of an old smartphone. Today, we’re going to give that action camera a huge upgrade, by making it compatible with hundreds of popular action camera accessories. I’ll leave links to everything you need in the video description.

The GoPro Hero, and many copy cat cameras use this interlocking mount to attach to chest straps, selfie sticks, and handlebar brackets. I’ll leave links to everything you need in the video description.

You may have some stuff lying around from another action cam, or you could just pick up an assortment of this stuff for super cheap. We’ll need it for our build, and plus you can use these accessories later on.

In the last video, we glued a wide angle lens to our iPhone 4 to get more action into the shot, but for this build we’ll be using a ready made phone case with a screw on wide angle lens. I poked around on Amazon and found many inexpensive versions of this that fit popular android phones, as well as other iPhone models.

Now, we can just glue one of the action camera adapters on to the case and make it work with all our accessories. For this, I’m going to use epoxy, which is the only thing strong enough for this type of application. The epoxy comes out of the tube alongside a curing agent. Squeeze the mixture on to a flat surface and mix it together real good. Carefully glue the bracket to the case with the double flanged end protruding from the bottom, and leave it to dry for an hour. Epoxy is pretty nasty, so open a window and be sure not to get any of it anywhere. If you get it on your fingers, you may need to have them amputated. Just kidding.

Between the assortment of brackets, a case, and epoxy, we’re barely breaking the $30 mark, and in this case, I have a 16 gig action camera with a screen, wifi, and onboard sharing abilities. How much would you pay for that? Let me know what you think in the comments.
