How to true wheels without a stand (zip tie hack)

You'll probably need these spoke wrenches: http://amzn.to/1FNpxzY

And this cheap truing stand if you want to get fancy: http://amzn.to/1zVsGNs but you don't need that.

Also, I used this hack in another video where my wheel was super messed up. Have a look: http://youtu.be/8oxuJDdkTDg

Many of the truing guides on YouTube won't work if you have disc brakes, but this does. No truing stand needed.

In the video, I first show you what a spoke wrench looks like, and how to tell if you already have one hidden in one of your bike multi tools. Then I'll show you the basics of truing using a spoke wrench and a truing stand.

The concept is, find out which way the rim is bending, and then tighten the spoke that connects to the side of the hub opposite the bend. Get it? The video is probably clearer.

Once you get the basics, you can do it without a stand by using a zip tie. Yes, road bikes can be done by using the brake, but most mountain bikes have disc brakes and will need the zip tie method. Enjoy!

Thanks to Two& Bar on Las Olas Blvd in Fort Lauderdale. One of the owners, Elmo Love, gave me this tip. Check them out on Facebook: http://on.fb.me/17cx2Er
