A group of sightseers in India captured a tense stand-off between a stray dog and a leopard that wandered onto a safari track.
During a stroll on a mud track at Jhalana Forest Reserve — which was made into a leopard safari park on March 2017 — a stray dog from a local village found its way onto the trail.
Amused onlookers captured the moment on September 2, but did not expect what happened next.
A leopard pounced upon the dog, but the plucky canine held its ground, barking at the big cat – named Juliet by park officials – until it slinked away into the bushes.
Park officials say the presence of the tourists may have saved the dog's life.
"Juliet left quietly as there were visitors in jeeps behind the dog. If not it is unlikely that the dog would have survived the encounter," an official said.
