The last decade has seen an unprecedented boom in the number of women getting involved in climbing. What was once essentially a boys club has become a sport with a far more even gender split. There's still a fair way to go, with women currently making up a minority of participants in climbing, but the current trend shows no signs of slowing down. With this in mind, we caught a word with two of Britain's foremost female climbing athletes, Mina Leslie-Wujastyk and Katy Whittaker to discuss the explosion in female climbing, altering expectations and the barriers that are still yet to be crossed. This video is the first of a number of interviews we filmed while at the Arc'teryx Alpine Academy. Tune into the show next week to see more from Will Gadd, Marc-Andre Leclerc and Brette Harrington.
